Vote your favourite contestants into the finals of Miss Singapore Universe 2005
Singapore, 22 February 2005 - For the first time, audiences will be able to vote their favourite contestants into the finals for a shot at being crowned Singapore's ambassador at this year's Miss Singapore Universe 2005.
The voting campaign kicks off on 5 March, when public will get to see all 25 semi-finalists in the Miss Singapore Universe Prelude 2005 programme on MediaCorp TV Channel 5 at 9pm. They can then SMS their votes from 5 - 15 March and the three contestants who garner the most number of votes will join 15 other girls for the Finals on 2 April, which will be telecast 'live' on Channel 5.
Each SMS costs $0.20. Participants of the SMS voting campaign will also stand a chance to win attractive prizes as a lucky winner will be picked each day. This year's event will also boast the biggest prize money ever in the history of the premier pageant here at $25,000 - all in a bid to attract young women with all-rounded traits of beauty, elegance, intelligence, charisma and personality.
The winner will also have the honour and chance of a lifetime to represent Singapore at the Miss Universe International pageant which will be held in Bangkok this June.
This is the fifth year that the event is independently produced by MediaCorp and Derrol Stepenny Promotions.
Says Mr Remesh Kumar, Managing Executive Producer, MediaCorp Studios, "With the new SMS voting mechanism, we hope with the audience having a say in picking three finalists, they will take this opportunity to actively vote for their favourite contestant - one whom they think embodies the spirit and values of a Singaporean beauty who will do them proud on the international stage."
